January 23, 2018Aging Matters in Brevard and AARP Co-Host HomeFit Seminar
Serving the Matters of Aging Since 1965Cocoa, FL -- Aging Matters in Brevard with the American Association of Retired People (AARP) are co-hosting a HomeFit Seminar on February 13, 2018. The event will feature guest speaker Laura Capp, Certified AARP HomeFit Facilitator. The AARP HomeFit program was developed to educate older adults on how to navigate all living spaces independently to allow them to remain in their own homes as they age. Participants receive information on how to easily evaluate their own home for "livability" should they themselves or one of their family members become unable to use stairs, or must rely on assistive devices. It is designed to help individuals plan for independence, choice, and dignity as they age.The event will be held at the Titusville Civic and Youth Center on Tuesday, February 13 from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. The Titusville Civic and Youth Center is located at 4220 South Hopkins Avenue in Titusville, Florida. Lunch will be catered by The Kitchen, a service of Aging Matters in Brevard. Space is limited and RSVP is required.

Established in 1965, Aging Matters in Brevard is a not for profit organization whose mission is to promote and maintain independence and maximize quality of life for the citizens of Brevard County, particularly the elderly and disabled. Aging Matters in Brevard is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization recognized by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and the Area Agency on Aging as the Lead Agency for senior services in Brevard County. Aging Matters in Brevard services are funded by federal, state, and local grants (Eligibility requirements may apply). Private pay services are also available. Aging Matters in Brevard offers a wide variety of services to enable seniors to live safely and independently in their own homes.
