About the Friends:
The Friends of the Mims/Scottsmoor Public Library are wonderful volunteers dedicated to promoting the welfare and growth of our library. The FRIENDS also strive to make the library's many services, as well as its needs, known to the community. We encourage financial gifts and donations of books, DVDs, etc. to our library. The FRIENDS conduct membership drives and organize book sales in order to raise funds to purchase needed items not allotted in the library's limited budget. We also fund speakers and children's activities. Please join FRIENDS today! (See Membership Form info below)

Our well-organized FRIENDS "Book and Bake Sales" are held three times a year in the library, and are open to the public. The impressive general book sales, featuring low-priced books in all categories---including biographies, bestsellers, military, romance, mystery, cookbooks, gardening, and even children's books---are held in March and September. The romance book sale is held in February. Books are displayed by categories (topic or author). Signs appear above the sale tables, so it is easy for buyers to find a specific topic or author. Tempting home-baked goods are also offered for sale. Volunteers are always needed before, during, and after book sales.
If you wish to donate a few hours three times a year to help set up books for the book sales, to donate baked goods for the sales, to help organize books by author's last name for the sales, or to write a check to support FRIENDS, we welcome your help!
For more information about our group, for day and time of the next FRIENDS Meeting, or to be placed on our mailing list to receive meeting notices and newsletters, call Mr. Doc Clingenpeel at (321) 427-1568 or call the library at 321-254-5080.
We Help Our LibraryIn addition to holding "Book and Bake Sales," we raise funds by offering everyday sales of books (displayed on shelves by front door of library); by collecting fees from those who attend crafts programs sponsored by FRIENDS; and by selling aluminum cans donated by citizens. Please put aluminum cans (not any other kind) in securely-tied plastic bags, and place bags gently in small wood-fenced space at front of library. This space is for cans only!!
WE NEED A NEW LIBRARY BUILDING!Our library, meant to be temporary when first opened, is falling apart. The building of a new, permanent Mims/Scottsmoor Public Library is necessary (see "History of Mims/Scottsmoor Library" and "FRIENDS Editorial" in Notiflyer July and August, 2015 for details). FRIENDS Members believe this goal will require the determined and continuing efforts of many community-minded individuals, businesses, and organizations.
