Updates to appearances and program. VAC regrets: The B-17 will not be able to appear this year because of corrosion problems. Kermit Weeks has just agreed to bring his P-40 to our airshow so it appears we'll have three now!! Unfortunately we just got word that the C-46 will NOT be coming. On Sat. only, at 1400Local the B2B will show up for a 10 min figure 8 fly-by at 1,000 ft. -- PRESS RELEASE Gates open to public at 0830, warbird pits and the airfield closes at Noon, Flag jumpers at 12:45. B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber To Make Appearance at Tico Airshow The Valiant Air Command has just learned that a B-2 Bomber will make an appearance in the Tico Warbird Airshow skies on Saturday only. It will be in our area and fly over the over the airfield, at approximately 2PM. The B-2 is air power at its purest, most elegant and deadliest form. This aircraft cannot be denied access with its range, payload, precision and stealthiness; it has everything that is required to hold any of America's enemies at risk ... anywhere, anytime. This multi-role bomber is capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear munitions. Its combination of stealth, global range, and large payload of precision munitions place it at the forefront of air operations in defense of the United States. The B-2's unique properties make it ideal to "kick down the door" of enemy defenses, allowing followon friendly forces to operate with reduced risk. B-2 bombers led the way in the campaigns over Afghanistan and more recently in Iraq, where their accurate payloads of up to sixteen, two thousand pound joint direct attack munitions were an integral part of the effort to remove the regime of Saddam Hussein from power. The B-2 carries a crew of two pilots, and is capable of striking anywhere in the world either by flying directly from its base in Missouri, or by deploying to forward locations outside the United States. The B-2 holds the record for the longest combat mission in aviation history: 44 hours from Whiteman Air Force Base to targets in Afghanistan.
