From the new team
at The Great Outdoors Golf Course and Plantation House Restaurant

Allow us to introduce ourselves….
As most of you may know, the ownership of the golf course and restaurant recently changed hands and is now owned and operated by long time TGO residents.

The new owner is Tom Saltsgiver.  Tom has owned property at TGO off and on since 1997, and currently owns a home on Grande Haven.  This is Tom’s second golf course.  He also owns a course in his native Pennsylvania.

The new management team is Ken and Laurie LaFave.  Ken and Laurie have been winter residents at TGO since 1991.  While Ken has overall management responsibility, he plans on concentraging on the golf course while Laurie will focus on the Pro Shop.  Ken and Laurie have been managing golf courses for over twenty years.  They will live full time in their home on Plantation.

The Golf Course….
Work has already begun to upgrade the course.  Some of the changes are cosmetic such as new pins and removal of the broken concrete that the previous owner had installed.  Other changes are to improve the golfing experience by installing new distance markers redesigning some tee boxes.  While this work will continue with a focus on high quality fairways and greens, we recognize that your golfing experience must not only be enjoyable but also be a good value.  To that end, we have announced membership packages that are the least expensive in years.

The Restaurant….
It is no secret that the restaurant has not been successful in recent years.  Though the initial menu is somewhat limited, our first objective was to achieve operational excellence.  To that end, new staff has been hired for both the kitchen and the dining area.  While training of this staff is underway, new equipment has been installed in the kitchen and a rigorous cleanup has been done.  Our goal is to provide you with an enjoyable dining experience – an experience you would be proud to share with your relatives and guests when they visit.

And finally….
As long time TGO residents, we know full well both the pitfalls and the promise of the golf course and restaurant.  We would not have gotten into this venture if we didn’t believe we could be successful in providing and excellent product that is seen as a major contributor to the great lifestyle we are fortunate to enjoy here at TGO.  So if you golf, come golf with us.  If you eat, come eat with us.  But don’t stop there.  Do us a favor and tell us how we are doing and how we could improve your golfing and dining experience.  Only with your feedback can we improve and that is why we consider it a favor when you help us in this way.  We wish you and your family a happy new year and look forward to meeting each and every one of you…..
