NORTH BREVARD LIONS CLUB CELEBRATES FIRST YEAR OF SERVICE

The North Brevard Lions Club will celebrate its first year anniversary on August 9th, 2009 by hosting its 1st annual Birthday Bash at Driftwoods at Royal Oak Resort. We will be hosting a dinner buffet from 6-10pm with a birthday cake. Entertainment will feature local musician Chris Kahl. Please R.S.V.P. to Lion Karen Johnson at 321.890.9354

Since the club's chartering in 2007, its members have worked on a variety of projects in the local community, such as White Cane Day and Christmas wish angels at Country Acres. Proceeds from past fundraising events have gone to the restoration of sight of a dozen individuals through eyeglasses, the gift of a prosthetic eye and several hearing aids to help severe hearing loss. The club is currently selling raffle tickets to win one of three Highwaymen paintings to be drawn at the birthday celebration (tickets are still available).

According to Edmund Kindle, club president and all the North Brevard Lions, "We are proud of our club's first year of service to the community. The North Brevard Lions Club continues to collect old or unwanted glasses and old cell phones. Hearing aides are very expensive and unused or unwanted hearing aids can be recycled as well. The Lion club members thank everyone who contributes to this important work. All monies raised are used 100% for aid and assistance in the North Brevard Area. You are truly helping Lions make a difference in our community."

The North Brevard Lions has 42 members and meets on the second and fourth Thursday at Noon at Driftwoods at Royal Oak. Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
