The primary purpose of the SJRWMD is to protect the St. Johns River and its sources from pollution and to maintain its viability as a major water, economic and recreational resource for the people of Florida. It is responsible for maintenance of ground and surface waters in eighteen northeast Florida counties.Among its mandates is to provide for public recreation on the district owned lands, compatible with their overall water resource protection goals. Important among these opportunities are: Wildlife Viewing, Hiking, Fishing, Horseback Riding, Bicycling, Camping, Canoeing, Canoe Launch, Boating, Boat Launch, and Seasonal Hunting. You will find information on which opportunities are available on each site in the guide. You will also find a Photo Gallery. Trail Guide. MapQuest or Google Map, Property Map, and a Location Map. You can pick up the booklet at most Chambers of Commerce in the area.
The SJRWMD website does not make it easy to locate these individual area guides. Below you will find direct links to the SJRWMD web pages of each recreational area. The regions are ordered according to their proximity to North Brevard (however, this is a complete district list).
It is hoped that its use, in conjunction with these web sites, will challenge you to spend many happy hours with family and friends enjoying the beautiful Florida outdoors:
