The extensive collection of Johnnie Johnson, former curator and naturalist for the museum will be refreshed. Mr. Johnson collected shells from around the world with a focus on Brevard County.Added to the museums former Natural Science Hall will be the all new "Hall of Mollusks" with a variety of Species from the collection of James & Bobbi Cordy. The Cordy's have been avid shell collectors for 45 years with most of their shells being self collected. Some have been traded with other shellers from around the world.
All new easy to identify explanations of the shells will be included as well as frequent "Shell Talks" and Programs.

Friday May 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. — "Time to Get Ready...A Hurricane is Coming to our Town!" storytime.

Children will be able to hear the story read aloud. Take home a free FEMA Hurricane Preparedness Activity Book. Additional copies of the book read will also be available for purchase in the gift shop. Seating is limited so please arrive early. The museum opens at 10:00. We will be offering half price admission to the museum for those attending the storytime (please check in at the front desk upon arrival).With hurricane season starting June 1st the museum will be offering free Hurricane Preparedness information from FEMA beginning May 1st while supplies last. There are a number of brochures available to help residents prepare for an emergency.
Friday June 4, 2010 — "Build your own Birdhouse"
Class at 11:00 a.m. ages 7 & up. Price is $25.00 per person and includes a Wooden Birdhouse that you build & paint yourself, birdseed, information on local backyard birds, and admission to the museum for the day. Advance reservations required. Seating is limited to 12 participants. (Parent or guardian will be able to attend for free, no birdhouse included for parent or guardian, with their paying child)July 2, 15 and 30th the museum will be offering classes from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on each date where participants will make and take home their own hand sewn "Pocket Doll". Price is $15.00 per class per participant and includes all materials and assistance with making your doll. The project includes a 5" Doll, Cozy Pocket Bed & Clothes for the doll. You may bring your lunch with you to eat out in the pavilion after the class if you wish. Advance reservation is required due to limited materials and seating.
October 31, 2010 — Annual "Grave Diggers" 5k walk/run.
*All lectures are Free and open to the public. If you wish to tour the museum after the lecture please check in at the front desk and receive $1.00 off general admission price.

- Cost is $25.00 per person in advance or $30.00 the day of the event.
